Background
I worked as a research nurse in rheumatology for a number of years. This field sparked curiosity about the coping issues facing those with chronic illness. To further this interest I obtained a Masters of Nursing degree from the University of Washington in 1991 and subsequently was certified as a nurse practitioner in psychosocial nursing. I have practiced as a psychotherapist and medication management provider since 1992 and have completed the certification programs of the Northwest Alliance for Psychoanalytic Study and the Center for Object Relations. In addition to private practice, I work as a therapist and as a nursing clinical faculty member at the psychiatric consultation service for the HIV and AIDS clinic at Harborview Medical Center.
